Forget about that I cringed at how he pronounced Sylvania.

@cjay2 that's because they're dumb. You shouldn't hear an amplifier at all. The distortion should be so low as to be inaudible. Which with solid state is the case.

@mr2981 the transistor was always there. It was but for someone to discover it.

Shockley went to California to work for Beckman.

Whatever you do don't search for William Shockley here. What you'll find is shocking!

Bratton and Bardeen both lived practically next door to where they worked. So it's not like either of them had a long and arduous commute to work. Which makes the fact that they carpooled ludicrous. But eccentric behavior is par for the course at the Labs.

@yxyk-fr we all know what prewar German patents are worth too.

Shockley's views were based on easily observed reality. Well, easy for anyone of sufficient intellect. So perhaps that excludes present company? Do tell. Perhaps you should get a degree in figuring out what a woman is? You strike me as the type that needs one.

@Raptorman0909 but it doesn't look flat. If the Earth was flat there'd be no horizon. They simply are not looking at things right. Shockley on the other hand could see down to the subatomic. He had exceptional clarity of vision. Far more acute than you'll ever know.

Only because guitarists are idiots.

@edwardmonsariste4050 no they're not. Any filter can be digitally created today. You can sound like you're playing out of any model of tube amplifier. That tech has been available for decades. We're not living in the Stone Age now. Why with AI we don't even need musicians anymore. Chat GPT play me Chuck Berry playing Enter the Sandman please.
1
@cjay2 I know you are. You don't have to point it out to me.

@mr2981 I'm sure we could and have. There's just no profit in that path. I really don't think Nvidia is too interested in consumer graphics these days anyways. Why would they be? They're making far more with AI now.
