We partied like it was 1999 for the 12th year in a row. That, and they developed the FinFet too. The video about that is already out.

@MrChrisRP yes I have. It's never been a problem with my audio here. I can use all of the gain and it's fine. That's because the distortion is very low. It's a Sony.

No one does today. Patents are only granted for a limited time. That time is long past now. It would not be in the public interest if patents did last forever. But some incentive to be inventive is desirable.

Negative does repel electrons.

@andersjjensen yeah they guessed the electron charge wrong and by the time they actually found out what it really was it was too late to change everything to how things really are. So here we all are today with negatively charged electrons. Most of the time it doesn't really matter. But when it matters then it does.

Yeah mega geniuses are messed up. It's a good thing they're rare.

Opposites attract and likes repel. Electrons are negatively charged.

@vulpo voltage is the potential electrical difference between two points. In the conventional model electrons flow from the negative to the positive. Which is backwards from what one may expect. It's certainly backwards from what the people that defined it had thought. But they had no way of knowing. They didn't even know what electricity was. But they knew it had a polarity. So they decided one side was positive and the other negative. By the time anyone found out any better the conventional model was too entrenched to change it then. So we're stuck with it now.

How about you just turn your volume up?

@uploadJ that may be why I have my PC hooked up to a 360 Watt amplifier.
1
@uploadJ there's software that can do that today. But I'm always looking for any excuse to buy new speakers.
1
@uploadJ I'm pretty happy with what I've got. It sounds good to me. 5.1 surround sound. I have digital audio so it can all be shaped with software. Can add echo, any effect. It's all ones and zeros.

@MrChrisRP I'll be bummed when it dies. But so far so good. I use a blu-ray player as an audio amp. I got it cheap at a yard sale.

@uploadJ I've jackhammered without hearing protection. So I have natural compression now.
1
@uploadJ I have some tinnitus today. I've used hearing protection but I wasn't as diligent as I should have been. So as a result I've suffered from some hearing loss. Not as bad as some folks. But nevertheless my hearing still isn't what it used to be.
