When Germans want good stuff they go talk to the Swedes.

Lucky you. I've watched all of Wes' videos at this point so I've no new ones to watch anymore until he posts. At least I think I've seen them all. Most for sure.

There's defoaming agents. They make special products for it but some common chemicals break foam too. Like acetone or alcohol. A little splash will do ya. Whoever sold you the coolant was probably waiting for you to complain about foam so they could sell you something else. You just wouldn't take the bait.

Wes is practicing a special form of Dorodango. That's where you take earth and water and painstakingly make a smooth ball out of it. Sometimes called polishing a turd.

It looks like it's in good shape. The guides and screws look good. But it was butchered up here and there like they get in shops. Wes is good at fixing that sort of thing. I was surprised he didn't change all of that wire though. What he did looked OK to me. Way better than it was. A lot of mechanically inclined people are not good with electrical. They're just good enough to be dangerous.

What's wrong with America?

It is crazy it took Wes a year to repair the machine. He's a pro. He used to work as a CNC repair tech. So it's not like he doesn't know what he's doing. I can't imagine what it'd cost to have a tech working on a machine for a year. Granted he wasn't working on it full time but like Wes said he's got so much time invested in just repairing those way covers. You have to have them too or you won't have a machine for long. So Wes probably has more billable labor into the machine than it is worth. He can only afford to do it because he is doing it himself.

Quit water shaming Wes. He's working to fix the well.

@MichaelChapla yeah sometimes filling up a barrel isn't such an easy thing to do. Like when your well runs dry. A 55 gallon drum full of water would weigh 458.7 pounds plus whatever a barrel weighs. Minus whatever sloshes out, of course. Now I wonder if heavy water would be any heavier. Or if it was salt water? When salt dissolves in water does that increase the volume any? I know we float in salt water better. So salt water is denser than fresh water is. So many questions. If you're not part of the solution you're part of the precipitate.

Usually people do brain transplants. You gut the antiquated electronics then convert the machine to modern hardware. But doing a conversion isn't easy. That's when the original electronics are good and cooked though. Which happens a fair bit with CNC machines. If you're lucky the motors are still OK. If you're real lucky the amps are OK too. Maybe the PSU? But the brains are generally fired and not worth trying to save anyways.

This Old Tony is a classic. If you like Wes ToT is good.

Welcome aboard. Wes is quite clever. He's not afraid to do big jobs either.

We throw too much out. You watch the people that wear safety sandals in Pakistan. They run machines 100+ years old. They buy our scrap and keep it going. They get good service out of it too. They fix everything. We need to be more like that. Be less wasteful.
