It should not cost that much to R&D a product. This is not a spaceship. It is a motor in a clamshell package.

@patrickkimbrell8873 I'd look on Ali Express. I'm seeing close relatives to cousin Eddie there right now. The $30 price is for a bare tool only. That means no battery or charger comes with it. The one I am looking at does come with 3 sockets and a chuck converter though.

For homeowners Gillmore probably. I have some Gillmore hoses and they never kink. They do weigh quite a bit though. Which is a factor when you're using them. There's a reason I have a couple lightweight cheapo hoses too.

I baby my tools. I can't afford to replace them all the time.

@jonbar140 Porter Cable is a zombie brand owned by Stanley Black & Decker now. So it really doesn't exist anymore. It is just a name.

That's it. Sure the Makita is better; but is it 5 times better to justify the increased cost? I'd have to say no. If cousin Eddy walked off a job I wouldn't cry about it either. Makita goes missing and I'd feel bad.

I don't know where he got his but there's stuff that looks just like it on Ali Express. Amazon probably has it too for a few dollars more. But you should get it faster.

Makita makes different lines of tools. The only Makita tools that are any good are the ones made in Japan. Not even the Makitas made in the USA are that swift. The ones made in China you might as well get a cousin Eddie.

@antimatter4733 I cannot even see how R&D is the primary cause of the price disparity. I think it is plain old profiteering. But does the Makita tool come with a battery and a charger? Because that would be a huge expense. The $30 knock offs are bare.
