You never know until you try. And now we do know that candle wax is junk for seized hardware.

One trick when you're dealing with seized hardware is take each fastener off, lube it, then put it back on. That way you're not dealing with extra spring in what you're trying to get apart.

Candle wax is a definite no go.

Heat can loosen rusted hardware. If it don't more heat can just burn the garbage off.

@MrTheHillfolk Sometimes cherry does it. Sometimes you have to go to bright orange. By the time the nut comes out of the impact socket it's just cherry red.

I think the torch is doing the work.

@robbrcnstuff4220 torches burn rust. Being as rust is metal with oxygen. Plus heating causes thermal stress. Which breaks parts apart. Heat is work. I have torched countless rust seized fasteners and freed them up with no wax whatsoever. At the temperature I bring fasteners up to the wax would simply evaporate and do nothing at all. It would be as if it was never there.

@robbrcnstuff4220 everything evaporates. Everything. There is nothing in this Universe that does not go into the gaseous state if made hot enough. Which we perceive as, "evaporation". Stuff just dries up and blows away.

@robbrcnstuff4220 but I have torched plenty of hardware myself. So I have done it and it is very real. I got my first burn outfit over 34 years ago now. If we're all going to resort to lame calls to authority. Keep it up and I'm going to have to break out my Smith Heavy duty equipment on you! With the sexy quick disconnects no less!

@robbrcnstuff4220 torches work with none of your beeswax.

Clean the threads and use a decent lube.

If it is rust seized I don't give a crap about nylocks. They only work one time anyways.

@2Truth4Liberty if you have to get in then you have to do whatever it takes. Sometimes there's collateral damage then too. But I suppose if you can minimize it then all the better. If there's one thing that I've learned dealing with stuck hardware it is that taking my time and tapping gently is the way to go. I've taken over a year to separate some bolts. Give it a shot, then spray it up and let it sit some more.

@2Truth4Liberty if I don't cut my grass for a year it only grows so tall here. If anyone doesn't like it tough on them. They ain't paying my taxes.

I've used penetrating oil on rusted hardware to thermally shock it when heating. The rapid cooling can break a rust bond. Can take several applications to work though.
