@scottsmith4612 In general the bigger they come the farther they go.

Cowardice. The Navy would not even let the planes bomb the beach because they were afraid of short drops. So the airmen were told to wait a full minute after they'd passed over the coast before releasing any ordinance. Not a single bomb hit any of the fortifications on the beaches of Normandy. When them boys hit the beaches they hadn't been touched.

The radios they had on D-Day had a range of 1.5 miles if you were lucky. That was ideal conditions. Many times the radios did not work at all. So homing pigeons were a far more reliable form of communications. The radio issue was actually a pretty big deal.

The Brits failed to close the Falaise Pocket before many Germans escaped. That D-Day objective they were supposed to take mentioned here called Caen took them 2 months to capture.

Why would the western Allies ever go to Berlin? That was well within the Soviet occupation zone.

@richardross7219 Germany knew what their plans were all along. They're not nobody either. The British were quite good at propaganda campaigns. To engage the populace the USA had to use propaganda itself. The German plan was to conquer Russia to the Urals. But when France and Great Britain declared war Germany did have to secure their western flank from that threat. Germany was sitting on Joe Stalin's front doorstep. Not France and England. What you've been taught in schools is a lie. The Axis never intended to conquer the world. That's ludicrous. The western allies attacked Germany. That's the truth. The Germans were the good guys. Victors get to write history though.

No plan ever survives first contact with the enemy.
