  2. The lyrics, It's just a spring clean for the May queen are highly suspect. Because forwards they don't make a whole lot of sense to me. Played backwards a lot of folks seem to hear something there. I've seen Jimmy Page play Stairway to Heaven live while he was in the Outrider band. So yeah my life's complete. Mr. Rock and Roll. He put on a hell of a show that night. Probably the best thing he'd done since 74. Towards the end Zep really were dragging their asses around.

  17. Back in the day I'd heard about the messages in Stairway to Heaven so I popped the drive belt off my turntable and played it backwards. The line, It's just a spring queen for the May queen doesn't make a whole lot of sense listening to it forwards. Backwards it sounds like something is being said. Supposedly words that sound like something else backwards is a form of witches tongue. Jimmy Page was certainly interested in the occult too. You don't just accidentally buy Allister Crowley's mansion after all. Or his clothes.

  18. Not all record players are the same. If you're weighting your arm with a penny so it tracks right then you probably are ruining the stylus running it backwards. You're probably not doing it many favors playing forwards either. I had an ultra low mass arm on my turntable. So it was gentle on the needle.

  19.  @InquisMalleus  I've looked at styluses under microscopes. When they're in good shape they're pretty symmetrical. They're just points. Now they drag on the pickup arm in one direction. But if you don't break it then it didn't break. There's people that will tell you that you only get 12 good plays out of a record anyways. But I think that varies a lot depending on the equipment you're using.

  22. You're supposed to take the belt off and just spin the label with your finger. That way you have some more speed control. I found it helped to slow some bits down a little. I didn't hear the message Simon read but I heard some things. Like Satan is my master and I live with Satan. I didn't spend a whole lot of time teasing every little thing I could out of it though. I guess I'd heard enough.

  23. @Stabbi Chan I've heard it backwards and heard it with a lot of people and no one's ever heard that. Most heard the I live with Satan part though. Some didn't. It's very subjective what people hear. There's no convincing anyone either.
