We still don't know where space comes from. We're like goldfish. Swimming in the bowl it is difficult to theorize what's beyond the glass that contains us.

Let me know when Kathy gets a fundamental unit of measurement named after her. The Tesla is a measurement of magnetic field strength.

What Grace did not do was use the term bug first. She was born a lifetime too late to do that. You remember incorrectly. It was a moth.
2
It was certainly mysterious when Tesla did it.

@NinjaRunningWild I don't think anyone but Tesla knows the full story about Tesla. He was an enigmatic man.
1
From what I understand of Tesla he envisioned all of his ideas in their entirety and only made physical models sometimes to verify if his vision was accurate. Invariably they were.
1
@juliadagnall5816 I don't think anyone actually knows what Tesla was up to there. He certainly never did what he was planning on doing so we're left to speculate what that may have been.
1
@palmercolson7037 first case of her finding a bug.
1
@enadegheeghaghe6369 Tesla also invented the AC induction motor. Let's not forget that. Yes AC existed and Tesla did not invent it. Tesla merely invented how to use AC practically.

An erg in the hand is worth two in the bush.
1
So your education was poor. That's no surprise.
1
Sure AC was around but no one knew how to work with AC practically. Even Tesla's 2 phase was wildly superior to anything else available at the time. Tesla's vision was inspired. If you fail to see the brilliance of it that's on you.

@toddkloos3965 oh here we go. Trotting out some obscure bum that never did anything with whatever they had. No Dumbrowsky contributed anything of any significance!
1
@spinnymathingy3149 am quite well versed in the history of electricity. In that history Tesla is a giant figure too.
1
@vorpalblades considering the body of Tesla's work he was one of the most prodigious geniuses of all time. You really should find out precisely what Tesla did invent someday. You appear completely ignorant as of now.
1
Tesla's inventive output is unrivaled. If someone had just done one of Tesla's many accomplishments they'd have gone down in history. Tesla just kept knocking it out of the park over and over again. Certain individuals have a clarity of vision that most lack. They can see and the rest of us are blind.
1
What happens when you conduct current varies.
1
That is only possible now with the development of gargantuan high power semiconductors. Something that did not exist until fairly recently.
1
@spinnymathingy3149 that's not how I interpreted it. So I felt compelled to elaborate as to why that's the case now. The hardware to make that happen is actually insane. Rectifiers four stories tall.

All patents expire.
1
@TheInternetHelpdeskPlays it all becomes public domain over time. A patent only lasts 20 years.
1
@TheInternetHelpdeskPlays I am curious what patents you are referring to specifically. Because we in fact use much of Tesla's work to this very day. That would include his Polyphase AC system including the induction motor and radio. Tesla also did work with fluids such as turbines and valves that is less known but inventive.

Tesla's discoveries were not shocking to him.
