  1.  @Osiristhepomsky  Smokey is dead now. I saw him at the Washington zoo before he died though. Smokey was a real bear. When I saw him he was on his last paws. Mangy looking critter.

  2.  @Osiristhepomsky  there really was a Smokey the Bear. He lived at the National zoo in Washington DC. He didn't look anything like the cartoon bear either. Maybe he did when he was younger? I saw him shortly before he died though. I saw one of the MGM lions once too. He was another mangy critter on his last legs. The lion was at a different facility. Same place they had Goliath the Bear. Now Goliath was a big bear!

  10. Actually vehicle emissions account for very little of the CO2 emissions in our atmosphere. Less than 20%. It is industrial sites that put out the bulk of greenhouse gases. But what's more important is what anyone can do about it? Which as of now is nothing at all. People do have to live. The alternative energy resources available to us would not even cover 10% of our energy needs either. Not even if we built them out as much as we could. They are not really viable alternatives. If this was an easy problem to fix someone already would have fixed it. Right now we simply lack the technology to do anything though. But we are working on it. Someday we'll figure fusion energy out. Maybe.

  25.  @P71ScrewHead  it was a bit hot on Friday. Saturday was unseasonably cool. And very windy. Some wind gusts were strong enough to blow someone frail around. So that may be what we saw happen here. The wind was very sporadic and localized though. It was odd like that. I've never known wind to be in one place and not another like it was on Saturday. I was in Zwaanendael Park and it was windy on one side of it and just a little breezy on the other. That's just a tiny little park. I have no idea why that was. The Cape was headed in the not windy direction too. So maybe it wasn't windy there? I find that hard to believe. Wind was predicted for the whole area. It had to have been windy out on the Cape. But I wasn't exactly there so I can't say for sure. I was very close to there. I don't know exactly where Joe goes in the park. I think he stays by the Rehoboth side? I wasn't that close to there either. I was closer to the ferry side. When Joe's in town we stay well away from Rehoboth. They usually stay pretty holed up though. Other than the park bike ride. Although last week someone flew over and they panicked and brought him to his bugout location. Which is the firehouse in Rehoboth. What they can do there I can't say. Was big news. There's a lot of small aircraft here. But when's Joe's in town there's a no fly zone they impose. That yahoo just didn't know.

  33.  @kevinphillips5330  I'm fairly certain it would be illegal to do with the present laws. Which illustrates how out of wack our laws really are. I'd have to background check everyone I transferred a firearm to. I'd also have to possess a FFL myself. There are people that make these really cheap guns that they troll gun buyback programs with. They usually pay around $200 or so for the arms they take in. And what they're doing is legal.
