  3. On a universal scale one in a billion is pretty good odds. There's 100 billion stars in our galaxy and a lot of those stars have planets.

  4. With the rapidity that life formed here it is difficult to imagine that life is rare. Perhaps conditions where life can evolve are rare but when those conditions are met life happens. That's what happened here.
