  1. She's a US citizen. Everyone born on Puerto Rico is. That's because Puerto Rico is a US territory so it is US soil. I think she could get you citizenship too if you want it. She is a US citizen married to you. Every Puerto Rican is a US citizen. They got a sweet deal. There is no country of Puerto Rico. It's an island.

  3. The joke wasn't about latinos. It was about the island. Puerto Rico belongs to the USA. So if the island is a pile of trash then it's our pile of trash. Which we need to clean up. Puerto Rico arguably could use more aid than it receives too.

  4. When the hurricane hit Puerto Rico at least Trump went there. Did Harris go to North Carolina? People rib Trump because he was tossing paper towels at people while he was there. But he was there. We sent a lot of aid. But most of it didn't reach anyone. That's down to the local government.

  5. Hold on a minute, What Puerto Rican nation? Puerto Rico is a US territory. There is no country of Puerto Rico. It's an island. A US island. At least until the people of Puerto Rico decide they don't want to be part of the US. Which so far they haven't done. They haven't petitioned for statehood either. Which I think if they did they have a good shot at getting. But for whatever reasons they're good with the status quo. It's a pretty complicated situation. As things stand now though Puerto Rico is US soil.

  6. The joke wasn't targeted at Puerto Ricans. The island itself is US soil. So the USA is responsible for the condition of the island itself. The dig was more about US stewardship of its own land than anything else. Puerto Rico's status as a US territory is at issue. The joke is pretty complex. You'd have to know about Puerto Rico to begin to understand it. A lot of Americans don't know much about Puerto Rico though. Even Puerto Rican Americans.

The wider implication is we could be helping out with the crisis. We should be in fact. Puerto Rico is a US territory. When we send aid to Puerto Rico it isn't foreign aid. It's self help.
