@kane357lynch your strategy is what was used on every invasion. Guys always ended up dying anyways though. Funny how that goes.

@Nickvec several million US is very high indeed. But it didn't happen so it is hard to say today. The figures were unacceptable to the US regardless. It was beyond what we could bear. At that point we'd have traded any number of Japanese dead to save one US life. So we were well prepared to give them all the honor they wanted to conclude the war.

@michaeldunne338 the USA totally started the war. Between iron and oil embargos the US also froze Japanese assets in the USA as well. That is like choking and robbing someone and then saying you didn't start the fight. FDR and Stimson were both biased against Germany and Japan from day 1.

@michaeldunne338 the USA embargoed Japan before the Japanese attacked. All the way back to 1938 and culminating with the Export Control Act of 1940. The Japanese attacked in 1941. Which is clearly a later date.

@patricknorton5788 but it was OK for us to force Japan to trade with us? I never said anything about forced trade anyways. Just free trade. Which with our embargos was not possible any longer. First we forced Japan to modernize and become dependent on us and then we cut them off. But we're the good guys. OK got it.

Why the Japanese Military wanted to fight on after the 2nd Nuke? Because they were stupid. That's why. If the Japanese had any brains at all they'd have surrendered before the Pearl Harbor attack. But no. Instead they chose to die like flies fighting America. Dumb move.
