  1. Germany lost because they simply could not conceptualize the sheer size of Russia. Logic breaks down when confronted with enormities. They simply bit off more than they could chew. Germany also miscalculated western resistance against Germany. They just didn't think everyone else would be so against what they were doing. But it was OK for the west to be engaged in a Cold War against the USSR for decades afterwards. Go figure.
