  1. The Russian pilot didn't ram other planes he carried an anchor tethered to his plane. He'd snag his anchor on enemy planes and tear them up. But he hooked into one plane and tore the tail off his own plane.

  4. No that Frog just attached metal plates to his propeller. Which didn't totally work. Because he did manage to shoot himself out of the air.

  5. By that time in the war Richthofen had already been seriously wounded and was in a poor state of health and mind. So he wasn't flying with any kind of preservation instincts. It was just stray gunfire that got him. He was flying too low. I don't think at that point he wanted to survive the war. His previous wound was pretty debilitating. He was shot in the head and had headaches. I don't think he had to be flying. I'm pretty sure High Command wanted him out of combat. He was valuable as propaganda. You get shot in the head and that's a ticket out. But at the same time if he insisted they had to let him fly.
