Mine too.

yeah you're going to need more money.

I actually did buy the PC I'm using now for $1. I had to put a few bucks into it to get it going though. The idiots must have pushed this machine up into a wall because they managed to break the VGA jack on it. The onboard GFX suck so I put a video card in.

I'm using my $1 computer from 2008. I bought it for a dollar at a senior center sale. They thought they fried the mobo, it turns out they just broke the VGA jack off the board. I threw a $30 video card in it, a PSU and here I am. But like you I have been starting to feel the system's age lately. So I am building a system a few generations newer than it. Should still be about 4X faster than this is. Though 10X slower than something new, and fast. 10X cheaper though too.

Did you know that 200 tons of dust fall on the Earth from space every day. So not all dust is dead skin and hair.

PC in the computing sense means IBM compatible. So x86, which phones are not.

But it is still 7 years old.

I'm not saying the PC is dead, but things have certainly changed between 2010, and now. I will say the midrange average segment of the PC market is gone. I'm still not seeing a performance explosion in SBC computing yet either. That stuff just isn't there enough for me. Though I am hopeful that it will get there eventually.

It depends. There's hobbies that make PCs look like nothing. Try jet aviation. Heck just own a boat. I'm into hobby machining and I have a list of tools I'd like to own as long as my arm. A new shop would be nice too.

For $2K you should have no problem putting a system together. But because of cryprocurrency miners GPU prices are pretty inflated today.

Yeah but some us use PCs for things other than gaming. I for instance need to do CAD CAM on my system. Which I don't think I could do on a game console.

When you compile large programs it helps to have some horsepower.
1
By prebuilt you don't mean by a company like Acer, Dell or HP, do you? Because if you do those machines suck. They build mass market crap.

Cases today are a joke. All I want is a plain metal box. Is that too much to ask?
