  2. Back in the day barrels were bored on lathes with single point cutters that were adjustable. You could shim them out to any size. Back in the day would be the flintlock rifle days. The mechanism used to rifle the barrels was an interesting device then too. Today you'd use rifling buttons.

As far as who is disallowed from possessing arms goes that is well defined by present laws now. I see no need to extend that any further. Licenses are not required to exercise natural god given rights. What no one has the right to do is deny me my right to defend myself. That is a direct threat on my very life. You may not be aware but we are all completely responsible for ourselves. What that means in practical terms is no one else is obligated to protect you. The implications of that are profound in the extreme. View a case named Warren v. District of Columbia to see just what I mean. Then come back and tell me I need someone's permission to have a gun. The Hell I do!

  20. You need a FFL to possess any post 1986 full auto firearm. Destructive devices require tax stamps to manufacture. You're thinking about semi auto. The word you're looking for is transfer. IANAL

  21.  @matthill5658  you only need a license to operate a motor vehicle on a public road. With drugs the risk outweighs the benefits. That same argument cannot be applied to firearms. But I'm sure you'd like to try.
