@frankkrunk The USA never used Imperial. We use the US Customary system. In 1835 the Empire adopted the US inch.

@MrRedberd I prefer US Customary units myself. I also prefer our center tapped neutral bonded 240 VAC electrical system over the foreign 220 VAC. 240 > 220. You have 120 at most receptacles because that is only one hot wire. If you need 240 you need to run both hots. 120 is half of 240. So that's the voltage between either hot and the center tapped bonded neutral. Which is enough for most consumer appliances. I run larger equipment in my shop off 240 VAC myself though. I have two 240 VAC circuits that I split between a collection of gear. One circuit is dedicated to my air compressor and I share the other circuit with the rest. I only ever use one of those other pieces of equipment at a time. So my setup is sufficient.

@DerrickRG if it works for them then great. But don't expect me to change to make things more convenient for others. Because no one is doing anything for me.

When the USA invented integrated circuits we put the pin pitch at a tenth of an inch on center. You're welcome.

@surfinmuso37 There are two kinds of countries in the world. Ones that use metric and the one that landed men on the Moon.

@allangibson8494 the British inch was changed to the US inch in 1835.

Because you do not have to go through a background check to buy parts. You are not actually buying a firearm. Only one part of a gun is considered the weapon itself in the USA. That is the receiver. The rest is just hardware. Background checks and dealing with a FFL transfer is a hassle.

I just push a button on my digital calipers and it converts for me.

@ACSMEX any length that can be expressed in metric can be measured with US Customary units.
