It's just too bad it's so hard to find good files these days.

It was likely done with a power hack saw.

@brandonstrickland6444 no I mean a power hack saw. They were the more popular tool in the past. A power hack saw is what it sounds like. It's a hack saw frame that is run with motor power. An image search in Google will show you pictures of them. They're like band saws without the band. They chug along like old steam locomotives did. They utilize a same connecting rod arrangement.

I should add that you can find videos of power hacksaws running here. Just put power hacksaw up in the search bar and there'll be plenty of them.

@jeremydoblinger3609 they may be but they do not sell that brand around by me here. So I would have to order them. Which is not at easy as just picking one up in a store is. I was going to order some Vallorbe files but it would have cost $28 to ship two needle files to me. That's just the shipping costs. So each file would have ended up costing me $27.40 a piece. I thought that was a bit steep.

@zbnmth I'm talking about files for sharpening saw teeth, if you must know. When you get down into the finer tooth pitches what files you use becomes extremely critical. Then you want needle files. Which are difficult to come by and expensive when you do. They're special order items and shipping is exorbitant. If I could just walk in somewhere and pick them up for their purchase price we wouldn't be having this conversation. Alas that is not the case. It'd cost me over $40 just to have one tiny file in my hot little hands. Specifically a Vallorbe 100mm second cut three square needle file. But now you know what you can get me for Christmas.
