For a whole month? Wow. I've run the same install on a PC for 8 years. Then the PSU in that PC blew up and that was that. Well, I did take the HDD out and put it into a pile of crap that I threw together and it did boot up. But it ran really funny. It was time for a new PC at that point.

@robertcoyle9071 I've been running Nvidia for a long time and never needed anything special to boot with it. You only need a special driver for accelerated 3D graphics. Nvidia hardware just does VESA though. I haven't run anything AMD in a long time. I hate their graphics. I liked my old 800 MHz Athlon thunderbird CPU though. I was bummed out when it died. Was probably good that it did though.

You can choose the components you install with any Linux distribution. There's always crap you don't want too. That's how dependencies work. Yes even Arch has dependencies. With pacman the word you're looking for is "cryptic". Arch and Gentoo are techno snob distros. I've run Arch. I'll never get those 15 minutes back either.

If my choices were run Arch or perform ritual seppuku I'd have to reach for the knife. All I can say is thank the computer Gods that I had an old image of Mint lying around when I installed Arch. Or I'd have nothing today. How the hell are you supposed to bring up the Arch install guide on the Internet if you only have one PC? I do hear that at least there's a readme file included with the basic Arch installation today. But there wasn't when I tried running that crap!
