  6. She made her own bed in this affair. When she got in bed with the assailant's boyfriend. That's of course what precipitated this event. Boys fight for lots of reasons. Girls only fight over boys.

  10. If a teacher touches a student then they are the defendant in their own court case. No one is going to be on their side either. It is easy for folks here to say they should have done something. But they don't have to deal with the consequences. You'll be out of a job and very probably in jail. For a stupid fight? I don't think so.

  11.  @emilyb5307  you'd think someone would be responsible. The reality is we're all responsible for our own safety though. If you want to read a really shocking case then search for Warren v. District of Columbia. They thought they had a case. Apparently doing nothing is not illegal.

  12. In the time you've been out of circulation the courts have become a much more hostile place. If that teacher so much as laid a pinkie on a student they could have been up on charges. We live in a litigious world today. People sue because coffee is hot. And win!

  13.  @NiikiTrent  those who have to resort to violence have already lost. We know it but we're sore losers and not big people. The one girl beating on the other one did regain a bit of her dignity though. This whole fight was over a boy, of course. It's about all girls will fight about.

  24. That is incorrect. You should study law. There is no obligation to aid based on public duty doctrine. In fact getting involved only exposes you to liability. Unfortunately for you ignorance is no excuse in the eyes of the law either. So you saying you didn't know won't help you any. Although courts do have discretion. They could very well feel sorry for you.

  42. You grab a kid and see what happens to you. I don't care if the whole class kicks the crap out of each other. At the end of the day I don't want to be behind bars myself. Which in this day and age is a very real possibility for an adult that lays a hand on a minor.
