You should season wood for two years before you burn it. So you're a bit behind if you're just getting started now.

@CorvetteCaneCorso while fresh air and sunshine are integral components of farming they're not the only resources needed in modern industrial farming. As harvesting equipment needs fuel in order to run too. And if you guess that's diesel you may just be onto something there. So don't worry about just delivering food. Worry about making it.

@jaymcdude1291 I get two years from informed people. Properly seasoned wood burns cleaner. That's not to say that green wood won't burn too. So it is one of those subtle things that not everyone knows or understands.

"You have to have diesel." Said like a true junkie!

@rondye9398 summers need to be hotter!

@keysew01 seasoned wood produces more heat, less ash and smoke. Which are all good things. It'll also keep you chimney cleaner too. But yes less seasoned wood will burn too. Just with less heat, more ash and smoke.

@stucorbett7905 nothing changes except the time scale between wood burning and rotting. If you're worried about carbon then you have to sequester it. Which would mean burying it so deep underground microbes can't get to it. So the greens had better start digging. But then they're going to breathe releasing carbon dioxide. So that's a problem. Saying you're worried about climate change just means you're anti-life. Because all life on this planet is carbon based.

@chetmyers7041 if ifs and buts were candy and nuts when we'd all have a Merry Christmas! But I don't heat with oil. I have heat pumps. I keep charcoal on hand for when the power fails. That's the extent of my emergency prep.

@jessicaquick6411 I'm not saying soaking wet green. But if wood is steaming some it's less than ideal.
