@denverlilly3669 that billionaire made his fortune in the private sector. When Bernie became a millionaire himself he stopped bitching about millionaires.

@bobfern855 millionaires and billionaires Bernie? Phleeze!

@denverlilly3669 Bernie is a grifter

@denverlilly3669 my proof is Bernie's net worth.

“We have to come together, that’s what I’m running, I’m running as a proud Democrat for the Senate.” --Joe Biden October 12, 2020

And what if the oil pipeline ran dry before the green pipe dream came online? Joe's got the answer, free crack pipes for everybody!
1
Then what do we do when we run out?
1
@denverlilly3669 that must be why they are all so out of touch with the common people's needs.

@62saki91 being small means they can also be personal. They can add value to the product. Make me feel like I'm getting more for the extra I pay. Otherwise I might as well just go to Wallyworld and patronize the meth heads there. Save a few pennies.
1
Well there ain't. Which is why we use fossil fuel. It's a tough act to beat.
1
@nsday1 what's so funny?
1
The US couldn't be energy independent forever. It's more of a some of the time thing. We lack the reserves for long term independence. Not the way we burn oil.
1
@FishingTheIdahoPanhandle I am not sure where you are getting your numbers from. There is no way to accurately predict future demand. Even the ability to precisely determine how much oil is in a field isn't 100% But if what you say is demonstrably true then we are being hustled. If that information was disseminated public reception of it would be poor. People would be called to account. There's plenty of evidence to suggest what you're saying isn't right. Such as the lengths we are already willing to go in order to recover oil in some places now. If it was easier to get elsewhere we wouldn't be bothering with the more difficult locations yet. Unless that's done just to keep up the charade?
1
@a-1800 I know you are but what am I?
1
Maybe EVs work for you but they do not work for me. I need a 500 mile range with a 5 minute refuel. Or it's not as good as what I already have. When EVs can do that then you let me know.
1
Oh yeah sure the oil we have will last forever too. Pump it like there's no tomorrow! How about instead we acknowledge there's a finite supply and use up everyone else's first? Before they realize what's going on.
1
Yeah but we get oil. Humans are oil eating parasites. Oil is life!
1
Yeah and what do we do when we pump everything dry that we have? Does the definition of the word finite elude you? I want to be the last man standing when the world runs out of oil.
1
Oil is a global economy. It doesn't really matter where it comes from or who uses it. Just so long as it comes from somewhere. Because everyone's always using it. But when someone stops producing then everyone feels it. See how that works?
1
“No, I haven’t taken the test. Why the hell would I take a test? Come on man,” “That’s like saying before you got on this program did you take a test where you’re taking cocaine or not huh? Are you a junkie?”
1
The US has been drilling for oil since 1855. How much oil do you think we have? The right answer is not as much as we used to. Although less all the time is acceptable too.
1
How about you just stop using oil? Then it doesn't matter what it costs if you're not buying it.
1
Who told you we have 300 years worth of oil? We don't even have those kinds of coal reserves. Not that we use coal now. But if we did we'd run out in less than 150 years. We didn't have a 300 year supply of oil before we started pumping oil 167 years ago. We have a hell of a lot less in the ground today than we did then too.
1
Remember when the first well in Pennsylvania came in at 69 feet? Yeah, them were the good ole days. Production peaked in 1891 and now the well's gone dry.
1
You should move to Venezuela. Then you'd only have to pay ten cents a gallon!
1
We could always just invade them. Desert Storm 3! Everyone hates sequels though.
1
Not really. We handle our bad politicians differently. We tend to just shoot them.
1
When the ozone layer is gone the people going to be a stain on the sidewalk.
1
Was the Russian royal family impeached? No. they were taken into a room in a basement and shot. It worked for me.
1
Define plenty. Precisely how much proved reserves do we have? And what exactly do we do when we run out? I know what we do but I want to hear it from you.
1
@MaceOfAce if it is in the ground it is a reserve. Fossil fuel is not a renewable resource. Whatever we use depletes how much we have. None has formed in hundreds of millions of years now and none will ever again either. The conditions simply do not exist to form fossil fuels anymore. Them days are over!
1
And depleting our own oil reserves isn't short sighted?
1
If oil wasn't strategically important I'd be all for it. But oil is strategically important. We'd be seriously boned without our own supply of it too. Believe it or not we're not very well loved in this world. For whatever reasons. Doesn't really matter. What does matter is we can throw down when we need to.
1
@benitaalmond3991 She needs it!
1
@Eric Barlow I should hope we have experts in charge. Who is better qualified than energy producers to set policies? You? You don't know jack!
1
The US does not have the massive reserves we once did. We've been using oil here for over 100 years now. The more we use the less we have. It's not like any more is being made today. So the supply is finite. What's grown is our ability to extract oil. We still can't get blood out of a rock though. Although the Canuks can.
1
Sounds more like something givesendgo would sponsor to me.
1
Your plan would be great if we had an infinite supply of oil. Unfortunately that is not the case. Every drop of oil is one drop less we have in our strategic reserve too. Now one drop may not be much but after a while they do tend to add up. We've been drilling oil in the US for 167 years now. So yeah.
1
That's neither efficient nor is it forward thinking. The world is a better place when it is interconnected by trade. Then nations are less likely to attack one and another. A stranger you can roll into a ditch. Your business partner you'll think more about it.
1
Then when we run through all of our resources we're in a real pickle.
1
The environment is hardly the only consideration here. Our jet fighters and heavy armor do not run on unicorn farts. If we run out of our own strategic reserves we'd be at the mercy of the rest of the world. Now maybe you'd be OK with that. Some of us are not though.
1
That oil we burnt then is gone today too. That's how oil works. There's only so much in the ground and when you use it up then it's over. We've been pumping oil in the US for 167 years now. So we're on the tail end of things anymore. We have to go further to find any to recover today. We don't have to actually run out of oil for there to be a crisis either. We just have to run out of affordable oil for there to be a serious problem! When we have to expend more energy than we get out then the game's up.
