If a bit will drill into concrete there's not much it won't drill into. But they will work better if they're sharp on other materials. Sharpening concrete bits does take specialized items too. I have a diamond matrix wheel that'll do it.

@kennethloki7011 what you say is true about dull masonry bits. Sharp masonry bits work pretty good though. You can even drill hardened steel with them. If you run a masonry bit in masonry it will be very dull though. Sharpening a masonry bit isn't something most can do either. You need rather specialized gear to do that.

Sometimes a drill will grab and self feed on you. Especially on break out from the material. I call it the butterfly effect. Because sometimes the tip will break out in a butterfly shaped hole and then the flutes will lock into that shape and just run the bit forward on you. It can happen very quickly too.
