+amit nagpal Great art evokes a strong emotional response. It doesn't have to be a positive one, but it has to move the viewer in some way.

***** That is good news if you're a microbe.

+Pablo Duran OK I'll play. It makes no sense because no solution to human extinction was found. The mission was a failure. So how can there be humans in the future if they die out? Also, if there are advanced humans in the future that genuinely want to help why not just come and help? Why all of the mysterious help? Are they like incurable sadists, or something? Let's make these poor bastards jump through all of these hoops, and suffer needlessly for the help they desperately need. If that is their idea of help, I'd hate to see them pissed off!

+Lord Stinson If the beings can do all of that why don't they just drop a manual on the Earth telling folks what to do? Wouldn't that be easier? They could call it, The Bible, or something. I'm sure word would get around.
2
Judge Dredd Yeah but Star Trek does it with Kirk-Fu!

+theRealRindberg You suck as a sentient being.

llongone2 Much cannot be appreciated by the immature mind.

+chemicalBR0 Proud that you're a deadbeat Dad?

+Ronald Ho Now Luke having the hots for his sister, that was mind bending!

+Stoney Lonsome How precisely has science proven evolution? Before you go spouting a bunch of nonsense I am going to tell you right now no such thing has happened. Because if it had we would have the Law of Evolution today, as opposed to the Theory of Evolution. Now what exactly can I thank morons like you for?

+OkamiG15 Like Arnold said, coincidence.

+halo4ever001 Apparently for you watching your ancestors doing nothing for just 20 minutes wasn't enough. They actually did nothing for closer to a million years. We still don't know why humans gained the ability to think abstractly. It is one of the greatest mysteries of the Universe. You completely fail to appreciate it even when it is on the screen in front of you too.

+Keira_TheExtractor Yeah you become Hawking radiation after you fall into a Black Hole.
1
+Funcrusher Plus Yeah Deckard being a replicant is quite a shocking plot twist.

Spyros Tsiolis I have seen both Solaris movies, and I've read the book. I feel like I've ingested three completely different things now too. The book is by far better than either movie is. Lem is one of my favorite authors.

AhzekAhriman As of now everything about black holes is theoretical. That is not likely to change any time too soon either.
1
AhzekAhriman The Hubble space telescope has directly imaged a black hole now. Well, as close as that can be done, considering black holes trap light. So they are not purely theoretical, if we can view them.
1
AhzekAhriman I do not think anyone can ever see any more into a black hole than what you just described. As black holes have some rather ah, unique physical properties that make it impossible to see them.

shadylotd It only takes about two and a half hours to watch 2001. So just sit there, and watch it. No one in the world can tell you what the best part of the movie will be for you either. But some aspect of the movie should leave you with a question. The most compelling question you come away with will be for you the best part too.
1
shadylotd Your comment just goes to show how little you really understand the movie, and Kubrick. Perhaps empty space and classical music are elements you should focus on deeply though? Both are heady topics if one spends time contemplating them.

+ProierThanYou Long before your body reached the velocity of light you'd be about an atom thick, and in no physical condition to be running anywhere.
1
+Chuck Johnson The speed of light in a vacuum is a constant. Though you can pass light through other materials and slow it down.

+IndieDude2100 Where is Titanic? I was so surprised the ship sank!
