@Will88ks asbestos is harmless too as long as you don't breathe it in. I've worked with the stuff plenty and it's never hurt me. Mostly it was a mob scam to create jobs. Asbestos remediation is a racket. They seal the jobsite off and you can't see what's going on inside there then they charge the client a fortune. They act like the stuff is the most deadly poison known to Man and idiots buy into it. We still commonly use other building materials that are a lot more harmful than asbestos is.

Our concrete problem is somewhat abstract as of now.

Yes but did you get to meet the man that met Andy Griffith?

If you're stopping 20 minutes every 155 miles you're not going to get very far by the end of the day. You've just added another day to a thousand mile trip. Which in a gasoline vehicle you could have done in a day if you had any balls. Enjoy your night in a fleabag highway motel.

@ralphbell1786 to make large tech breakthroughs vast resources often do help.

Gasoline is 13,500 Watt/Hours a liter. That's the number to beat battery head.
1
@Xyler94 an internal combustion engine is more like 10% efficient. But even at that EV still can't compete with the energy density of gasoline. Gasoline is just that good. We use fossil fuels because they're a tough act to beat. Impossible with our current technology actually. Nothing else we have remotely compares to it. One liter of gasoline has a staggering 9,000 Watt hours of energy in it. A lithium-ion battery has from 250-600 Wh/l. So gasoline has 1284% more energy in it than the best batteries we can make. And that's why EVs suck! Well, one reason anyways.
1
Yeah 3 times the energy density would really close the gap with gasoline. Then batteries would have a whole one tenth the energy storage density gasoline has!
1
@gregkramer5588 while you may be happy with the limited range of EVs it is not nearly enough for me. If you're stopping for 15 minutes every 300 miles you're not going to get too far by the end of the day either. Road trips are endurance tests of men and machines. Minutes add up to hours at the end of the journey. Hours you'll wish you were off the road.

I think graphene is the best wonder material since asbestos!

Proponents of alternative energy are the kind of people that can just barely change a light bulb. If they had to light a campfire they'd probably freeze to death in the process.

You'll throw away all of your #2 pencils after you try a HB pencil.

You're the carbon they want to reduce.

Joe's son Hunter disagrees. He's the smartest guy Joe's ever met too. That's why he took Hunter with him to China on Airforce 2. He was cutting deals and smoking parmesan cheese!
1
You're funny. Why would any corporation make anything cheap or easy for consumers? Where's the profit in that!
1
Hydrogen is like trading dollars for pesos at a one to one exchange rate. It doesn't make sound financial sense.
1
You're an order of magnitude away from fossil fuels now. That's why internal combustion engines can be an order of magnitude more inefficient than electric and still piss all over EVs.
1
Fossil fuels store hydrogen. That's why they're called hydrocarbons. There's far more hydrogen in gasoline by volume than there even is in liquid hydrogen. It's remarkable!
1
@Kevin_Patrick001 but I do not have a metal hydride container. I do have a number of gas cans though.
1
Don't worry because by 2030 you'll own nothing and you'll be happy.

No one goes into construction for their health.

Graphene holds almost as much promise as asbestos. Remember asbestos pajamas?
1
@rocker10039 perhaps. I think they were around in the 1950s. Apparently it wasn't banned until the 1970s. I never had any because my parents didn't love me enough to care if I burned up in my sleep. All of us kids smoked in bed back then too.
1
for me I just like internal combustion engines. EVs are for latte sipping left coast types.

@BookmansBlues the future does not interest me. My only concern is about the present. And presently I am paying $5 a gallon for gasoline! I will never forget January 6th either. Gasoline was only $2.19 a gallon then. The midterms approach. That's the only future I care about.
1
@BookmansBlues no I can blame the present administration for being openly hostile towards the oil industry. What we're seeing now is the result of that. When you cancel pipelines and won't issue drilling permits reducing supply prices rise. Biden said he'd end the fossil fuel industry and he's working towards accomplishing that. Unfortunately we do not have any viable replacement for it. So we will all suffer as a result of his utter incompetence. I won't ever drive an EV either. If everyone magically had an EV tomorrow our electrical grid would collapse. Then we'd be in the dark on top of everything else. You dumb ass environmentalists are a menace to society. You're all idiots who have no understanding of science or technology. What we can and cannot do. Oil companies deserve every penny they make. They make modern life possible. They put the food in your belly! There ain't no charging stations out in corn fields. There ain't never gonna be either.
