Every construction job I was on I was told I made too much money too.

@MickeyMishra the road to Hell is paved with good intentions too.

If it hadn't collapsed it might have been OK. Concrete increases in tensile strength as it ages. It takes 28 days of curing to reach spec but it keeps getting harder after that. Concrete is actually a crystal that keeps growing. That's why as it dries it holds together. But today time is money and jobs like that are finished as fast as possible. You're on that deck the next day while the concrete is still green working.

They stopped by to get their envelopes of money.

@michaelpettersson4919 here the concrete may not have reached yield strength yet. It takes 28 days to get to spec and it'll get harder forever. The cement in concrete is a crystal that keeps growing. I thought it was odd the deck gauge was mentioned. That's only a factor while the concrete is soupy. We had a pour let go in my territory once. That happens right when you're pumping concrete onto the deck. Where the mesh wire is in the slab is a factor in how strong the concrete is too. You're supposed to pull it up as you're pouring. But not everyone does.

@justaskin8523 wire mesh is steel reinforcing like rebar is but it isn't rebar. It's welded wire mesh. That's what's typically used in concrete slabs. There's reasons why no one puts rebar in slabs. First off you don't need it. The rest is cost related. Construction is a very cost sensitive industry.

Greed makes everything possible.

Deport all of those illegals. I had to work with them in construction and they are all menaces.

They got deadlines to meet. If you fail to meet them you're gone.
