You never really know your family until someone dies. My last grandparent dying dissolved my family. If my aunt's head was on fire I wouldn't piss on her today to put it out. I would point and laugh though.

What's stupid is you can just say they went missing yesterday if you really want to get the ball rolling now. Yeah sure I waited 24 hours now get on it!

@triple7marc that's assuming the 24 hour thing was even real. Then if you ever get called out on it all you have to say is it's been more than 24 hours now. They're not going to figure it out right away. Then if they're still harping on you, you only need to say what would you do if it was your loved one that went missing? Sue me!

One thought that haunts me is fully half the population is of below average intelligence. But I bet you get that fact shoved in your face regularly. Idiocracy is real!

I'll give you a tip. If you want to be well compensated get a better job.

No one denied him his rights. You need to exercise your rights yourself.

Don't believe it. They'll use that tactic. Just realize that cops have no actual power to grant you any special accommodations come trial. The DA can do that.

That could have been Ed McMahon in the prize patrol van for all you know.

You can legally leave even if the teacher is present. They cannot hold you against your will. That's kidnapping.

@HAbarneyWK After 16 you don't have to go to school in the US.

Eyewitness accounts are notoriously unreliable.

Anyone should know better than to engage in illegal activity. Those are life choices.

I would not count on that. Police do not owe a specific duty to provide police services to citizens based on the public duty doctrine. So they are not required to quote you chapter and verse the law.

Cops can absolutely lie to you in any way they want to. So here's a hot tip, keep your nose clean and you'll never have anything to worry about.
1
@flubohooligan if a cop was required to say things they would not be very undercover.

I had something similar happen to me. I told them flat out I knew they were lying. No one knew my whereabouts better than I do. But some folks get sucked into the authority figure trap. Don't fall for their crap. They don't have amazing clairvoyant powers either. They're just fishing. If cops really have something on you they're not talking they're just grabbing then. While they're talking it's just hot air.

You can talk to police. Just realize that anything you can can and will be used against you in a court of law. So it is a good idea to not dwell on your guilt or innocence.
