Adjusted for inflation the firearm should only cost $93.57 today. It was only $6 new.

One of the main manufacturers was the GM headlamp division. Headlamps, sub machine guns, whatever.

@christiankneupper7011 oh come now. Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms are the foundation of the nation. We just need to repurpose the agency to promoting those items instead of regulating them. They should be handing it all out! Have a drink, a cigar and a gun. That's how you Murica.

@rista1969 that is not what I've read from multiple sources. M3 grease guns were extremely cheap to manufacture. That's why they were made. They replaced the much more expensive Thompson.

@duncanmcgee13 that's not what I've read. $6 takes it. This particular firearm was built down to a price intentionally. That was the primary engineering goal of the project. To make it as cheaply as possible.

@sumvs5992 then skip it.

@ronnieDshman18 that is a good thing. Why should anyone pay more than they have to?
1
@ronnieDshman18 Yeah but is 2 Thompsons better than 15 guys with M3s? Because you could buy 7.5 M3s for what one Thompson cost. Economics is what ultimately wins and loses wars.

@bdbksbdfhfbhksbdfhb which is still remarkably cheap for a submachine gun. Heck that'd be cheap for a Saturday night special.

@bdbksbdfhfbhksbdfhb the good old days.
