@Ezekiel_Allium The device looks pretty maintenance free to me. The only wear item is the solenoid. No other moving parts touch. We can make electronics pretty durable. The complexity isn't something an end user has to deal with. The device is a black box. There's a lot of impetus to develop better batteries and capacitors. Now whether that translates into progress remains to be seen. Invention is a fickle business.

@Ezekiel_Allium In World War 2 one of our top secret weapons was the proximity fuse. It was an artillery shell that would explode when it got near to an object. What was it really? It was a vacuum tube based device that we shot out of a cannon. Now if our military can make that then I'm not going to put anything past them.

@Ezekiel_Allium there are but with adequate energy those issues are more easily overcome.

@Ezekiel_Allium proximity fuses worked.

@banzubie this is out of their purview as there's no fire involved.

If the libs keep writing gun laws development could accelerate.

Miniaturization poses challenges but also does offer benefits that make development worthwhile. More power in a smaller package is always good.

We still have to survive to get to the future. The technology we develop all comes with inherent risks. Some of which could collapse our civilization.

In the simplest terms it is all about delivering energy to the target. The hold up now is storing electrical energy in a portable format.
