  4. There's flight and then there's controlled flight. The Wrights figured out a way to steer an aircraft. Their wing warping wasn't the best but it was something. What mechanism did that other screwball have as far as control went? It looks like he just pointed and went to me. Which is probably why he hit things a lot.

  5. Maybe it did fly. But that's not important. What's important is controlled flight. Without a rudder there's no way that crank's plane could be piloted. That's like building a car without a steering wheel. It's useless!

  9. The Wrights had two things no one else did, the airfoil and control surfaces. That gave them powered heavier than air controlled flight. Which is the only useful variety of flight.
