  1. If you didn't get a good day's work out of a kid then you fired them. I'm sure that went over big when they couldn't help out the household financially. Now the whole family is out on the streets starving. But food and a place to live are overrated anyways.

  2. If we don't burn it then eventually it catches fire and burns naturally. The only difference is we derive no benefit when coal burns in the ground. There's coal fires burning now that have burned for decades. All over the world.
