You are indomitable. Now, snowplowing my 700 foot driveway here in NJ seems wimpy compared to what you did there.

Great show. Luv Kyle, Cierra and Skeet (not the cat). I'll go there. Sorry about the chickens. Wily got them. I knew cutting corners in some of the stuff you build would be trouble. Bach' stuff: if you got a plate unwashed, smell it first to see what you had on the plate before using it again. Utensils licked clean. Ready to use. haha. Hope Cierra is not watching!

Might as well get started on heavy duty shutters for the windows. And ply wood with nails punched through to lay down in front of windows, to keep bear paws.
1
Vehicle shed too, then Cierra's she shed, haha

Exactly! No roof decking, no roof! No box framing of stove pipe, no flashing/waterproofing. Whatda? Why all the corner cutting??
1
I heard you guys got froze all ready?! Maybe some snow. Big weather sites predicting Minnesota gonna have colder snowier winter upcoming....
1
Fantastic framework siding and roof! My only concern is would it have better to put some sort of waterproofing or a gasket underneath the perimeter base board, and would it have been better to make that pressure-treated lumber? Water could seep in. And should have the outside panels been extended, say 2 inches down past the junction of the trailer frame and the baseboard, so water cannot get that baseboard wet. What can you do now? Caulking?

That spent chicken bedding would be perfect in a compost pile. As a master gardener I cannot extol enough praise for nice big compost piles, such great recycling and wonderful organic improvement to the soil.
1
Ideally you face your firewood building front (most open) to the south for best drying sun exposure

TWC said Duluth, MN, all time snowiest winter.

Yeah that chicken shizz is ideal to add to a compost pile, the hay may take a while to break down tho, unless the pile is turned over frequently. Work. But since it's Fall, to save work the fresh chicken doo can be worked right into your garden plot, giving it time to decompose. Never add fresh manure to a garden. Sorry to say it, but (chicken) "blood meal" is excellent organic nitrogen amendment to garden soil. Buy at box store.

Let chickens nest in the outdoor part of the bucket and you'll have four flash-frozen chickens. Just a nutty scheme. Tell us how you're going to "cut doors" in hard plastic buckets!
1
Use a steel scythe to clear brush, and a "grass whip" for lighter stuff. Good investments. Protect your mower.

I like your idea -- the extra insulation -- combined with my idea -- stapling 1/4" hardware cloth to the joists underneath to keep gnawing critters out and to hold in insulation rolls nicely. Kyle, place thin plywood down for you to lay down on when stapling stuff up.
1
Just nip the nail point with channel locks, or heavy snips
1
Good question!

you need to add a "thanks" donation icon to your video title line, do it

Maybe one more post solidly planted down through decking to ground.

Yes.

@ChrisThompson-qq9zs He sold the first small cabin. Building cabins is his YT "job. "
1
I was wondering, where is Kyle gonna put his vise? Good job.
1
What is the building (compass) orientation of your cabin? You know what I'm getting at. Seems when you look out your big picture window, next to the futon, that faces southwestish.
1
Good point. Heave.
1
I presume in this bigger new house you'll have room for a double bed. In your travels or online, have you come across a small cabin that built in a fold down (from wall) single bed?
1
Use a wheeled log skidder pulled behind the ATV, chain lifts it up NOT the back.
1
"Dick Decent" we used to say as kids.
1
I thought the same thing. Two cabins built and unoccupied then. I would have maximized the present cabin. But a new cabin drives content. Correct mistakes and corners cut.
