  1. The Moon and Mars are cold, dead, airless bodies. Mining and recovering He-3 back to Earth form the Moon for carbonless nuclear fusion reactors and precious metals is intriguing and hopeful. But serious dangers and distances are myriad for human space travel and is almost entirely unnecessary. Exploration, research and work is best served by robots. Besides, we are so so deep in national debt we can't even afford a plastic rocket model.
