  1. the shotgun slug load is good to 200 yards maybe 300 , the ballistics are very comparable to the most powerful antique muzzleloaders, i think... edit : for example 80 grain ff blackpowder is same as birdshot smokeless powder standard shell from a 28" barrel 100-150 ff grain {about the maximum load ever used in the authentic ones in whatever caliber too) loaded into a 12 gauge shell from a 28" barrel shotgun should be same as the magnum load 12 gauge but dirty and smokey ...is my reasoning . It's interesting because the 6 shot .44 (.45 caliber ball) uses about 30 grain so basically a buckshot load has always been about like an entire pistol in each shot ...it's interesting because nowadays the 3 1/2 " supermag fires 18 .32 caliber buckshots about 1600 fps looks like an entire glock or high capacity 9mm in damage terms (each shot)...
