i use a few Simpson brand metal , wood connectors and structural screws , i like the thick corner pieces , they have decorative finish black powder coated metal for decking or just wherever with a structural screw method (all their fasteners are coded method) that have washer shaped like a bigger bolt i guess , the price is not bad relatively , they're fancy because they have the size stamped on the head and the fittings are stamped what size to use , i was looking at the wood post bases and cast in wood to concrete , some are for fence posts others are structural i saw a big house vid with the 6x6s on one version {on the footer wall} and the sill plate in between , the latest one is a box around the post base but i noticed made in china ....they always do that when demand gets higher but sometimes anyway i realized to go footer to block to wood posts , and then cover with cement board is a bit complicated and probably more expensive than cinderblock all the wall up especially for a bathroom or laundry where it's damp anyway but those are worth looking at , it's like 2.50 a bracket is easier than making them sometimes i make my own and paint them anyway ....edit: their other screws and nails are good prices worth study the 4 " washer head structural screw (there's letter codes for them) really pull lumber tight and stronger than decking screws for example...
