Pretty please get a dashcam, front and rear.

I am an ex-motorcyclist, I feel your pain. I stopped riding before the phone craze caught on so much, but more recently a mate used to rev-bomb next to a phone using driver until they stopped.

The more relevant question is can you afford to not have them? @NiceLoki

It isn't, but it's probably better not to drive and phone handsfree as it's also very distracting. You could have that phonecall taken into account if you drive in a distracted manner, or cause a collision for example.

Hahaha, thanks! Nowhere close, I luckily only get called for perhaps 2-5 in 100 cases.
3
Hahaha, nope. I have no power and no authority over anyone, and I don't wish to have any.

It's called filtering, dear Stephen. The police have yet to find anything wrong with my cycling, because they would charge me if any of my videos showed me breaking the law.

Hahaha, I don't have any affiliation with him, but I do think he's pretty cool at sharing all this legal advice.

Isn't it only children and criminals who use the word "snitch"?

I've watched quite a lot of other YouTubers and it's a very good mic. I have the Rode Wireless Go II, and the DJI is at least as good as that.

Not even without - I almost never ride without cameras, and I'm pretty law abiding generally. Last one I remember going through was because a car behind me was approaching fast and I didn't dare stop in case they rear ended me. That car did in fact go through the light. I think it was back in 2009. @laceandwhisky

Indeed - I'd like to think that after my years of motorcycling and a good 100,000km in London alone on my bicycles, I have a reasonable idea on how to filter well and safety. Poor old Stephen up there doesn't seem to like filtering two wheelers much. 😂@RandomShart

It's legal, and impairs your hearing less than driving with your car windows closed. Of course you drive with all your car windows down, even in the rain and snow, yes?
1
@EggPottsKnock The point is that you're more hearing impaired as a motorcyclist or a driver than a cyclist with earphones in. Looking is what matters. I'm glad you didn't overtake that cyclist at a junction, because you'd have been in the wrong had you done so and collided with him.

Speed does kill, and is the main cause of some 50% of fatal collisions in London per DCS Andy Cox. There is a very strong correlation and most likely causation between the introduction of speed cameras and the reduction in annual deaths from road violence.

You're completely wrong, Alex. Naive and ignorant, to be factual. @alexpervanoglu7420

I think it's because the defence needs to be able to test the witness's evidence for a fair trial. I'm not a lawyer, but something along those lines is my understanding. @Liam_Oliver

Most of my catches are on my daily errands and commute. I do occasionally go out to catch drivers, but mostly I CBA. @temparalflux914

LOL maybe. This isn't a war between drivers and cyclists. It's a war on bad and distracted driving. Proportionally, I'll bet that far more drivers run into the back of other cars than cyclists do. This is because cyclists have skin in the game. @stuartfountain9929

Just stay off your phone, and you won't risk being caught and prosecuted. Learn that there are tens of thousands of good citizens reporting road crime. The Met started almost 15,000 prosecutions in London last year. 3rd party reporting has exploded across the UK. Fear being caught. Fear prosecution, and maybe you might drive more like an adult. @taras6806

I'm doing it because I want people to see how prevalent road crime is, and because I can teach only a couple hundred drivers by reporting them myself, but I can teach millions more via social media. Most people who are like you who don't like this are just wanting to conceal these public behaviours, I think. It's in the public interest to show these prosecutions and to show how easily drivers can be caught if breaking the law. Best of all, lots of other people are also taking up this civic duty and reporting bad driving in the same way I've done. @Alex-the-Great81

To be fair I'm not upset by the bad drivers I catch, I don't hate them. They are human beings too. I dislike their behaviours and hope that prosecution will change and improve their driving. @manni192

I think you'd have to be parked up, and not in a live queue of traffic like this driver was.

It goes to victim support services - a charity.

There isn't one, thankfully. This is a statutory charge that applies to all such cases. @Divided-Kingdom
