  1. This June will mark the 15th anniversary of the deadly crash. Metro knew the 1000 series cars could telescope in a collision but didn't nothing to fix them and refused to retire them saying they were short on railcars. Also, they had problems with the circuit before this deadly crash but did nothing about it. Metro didn't have a safety culture back then. Today I believe is Metro is much safer. They are still operating in manual mode today
