I don't know if Yang is corrupt (unless something happened recently I'm not aware of), but he is in fact an "enlightened" centrist. His own position on healthcare in 2020 devolved from Medicare for All to a public option to simply stating his position as "a 'vision' to eventually move towards universal health care that's high quality and nearly cost free". If Yang miraculously became President somehow, I have zero expectations he would even push for a public option & at most do tweaks along the edges just like your normal neoliberal corporatist.

@adamrisch I'm not sure where I first heard someone call him an "enlightened centrist", but I'm pretty sure it was used ironically (that's at least how I'm using it now). And yeah, Yang is absolutely a corporatist whose very accommodating towards Wall Street & big business. I don't know if it's fair to call him corrupt though until he's actually done the deed. I'm sure you're right though, considering his trajectory.

@adamrisch I'm not trying to make this an issue or anything worth arguing over, but I just think the word is used too loosely these days. For instance Jimmy Dore and his fans constantly call AOC corrupt and even go as far to call Bernie corrupt simply because they think they lack integrity defined by their own twisted beliefs. All this despite the fact that they're about the most uncorrupted figures in politics and even if they were to suddenly become corrupt, virtually no big money interests would give them money anyways. I know the English definition of 'corrupt' can just mean dishonest, but when it comes to politics I specifically only use the word for politicians or political figures that actively operate in legalized bribery or tit-for-tat corporate deals. However, even if you can't put Yang in that category just yet, he's about as close as you can get considering his positions on Wall Street regulations, big business, and the way he's constantly flip flopping on issues & how he doesn't consider corporate bribery much of an issue (all red flags at the very least).

@adamrisch It was entirely only over semantics, but as I said, it's all just personal preference anyways. I wasn't saying you're wrong at all (especially when it's in regards to Yang), but I thought I would just give my take on how I believe the word 'corrupt' has been overused by leftists in the last 2-3 years. In my opinion, I think it's done more harm than good or at least made things a little more confusing when we call people corrupt who haven't officially been caught red-handed of actual corruption or tit-for-tat corporate deals yet.

Yang's essentially saying: "Vote for my party instead so you also probably won't get universal healthcare!" His position on healthcare during a Democratic Primary was "a 'vision' to eventually move towards universal health care that's high quality and nearly cost free"
