Modern politics is different in America nowadays. I don't like framing it this way, but I think we're ahead of you in terms of public view of the media. No one likes the media in the US, that partially has to do with Trump's attacks on it but it also has to do with their own over-exaggerations of Bernie Sanders and leftist politics. There is now an ingrained distrust of anything the media says, that might sound bad, but I think it only helps the people and the working class. UK's political landscape reminds me of what the US was like right after Trump won. People had to reevaluate things, unfortunately it looks like people are already trying to convey the wrong message from Corbyn losing though and not focusing on the real reasons he lost (waffling on Brexit and not taking a bold stand on an issue).

@IGoulden I don't think being "as far left" has anything to do with it (despite people saying that). Corbyn's leftist manifesto was popular and there's a reason he tried to focus the election on his platform instead of Brexit. He lost in spite of having the more popular platform; acting like being "too far left" was bad for him is not correct at all.

Trumpism is coming to Europe. If you're in Sweden or wherever, just don't do what France did with Macron and actually elect someone who will treat the underlying issues that are attributing to fascist tendencies, otherwise it will come back 4-5 years later even stronger than before.

Why is it that every country with English as their first language has totally backwards politics. This is why I need to learn Spanish or Japanese if I want to live in a politically civilized society one.

Corbyn lost in spite of his popular leftist manifesto, yet the neoliberal narrative has been to try to claim his leftist platform was the REASON Corbyn lost, not his waffling on Brexit nor the constant media smears against his character.

@troublesome1019 You'll survive, just make sure you fight hard for your next election though. That's what we're having to do in the US right now. From what I saw, there didn't seem like a sense of urgency revolving around the UK election. I saw countless people on twitter bashing Corbyn for his stance Brexit and not being for it or against it like they personally wanted, saying stuff like "I'll never vote for Labour again", and all I could think was "well hope you get your wish on Brexit, have fun with your healthcare getting privatized and the massive copays, deductibles and premiums".
