  2. The problem with the Last Jedi is that the premise is all wrong to begin with. This is set in a universe/galaxy where things ARE black and white, dark vs light. That's how the rules of the universe work. The fact that Rian Johnson is trying to impose Earthen values and grey area concepts into this universe that has been around for 40 years, with countless projects done within it, is where he made his first biggest mistake, and it's ultimately why nearly everyone who loves Star Wars hates his movie, he tries to turn Star Wars into something it is not. The fans like Star Wars because it takes you into a fantastical universe, completely different from ours. Once you start pushing foreign themes into that universe, you ruin the magic of it and the simplicity of their morality structure. Pushing the idea that there is no real "light" or "dark" side flies directly in the face of how the force works. For godsakes, the Jedi and the force are the primary appeal of Star Wars and Rian Johnson essentially tries to neuter the concepts because he thinks it would fun and deep to talk about moral grey areas in this fantasy universe.
