  2.  @EscapingMidnight24  Trans people aren't trying to be a 3rd gender. They just want to be treated like everyone else, which is why the idea of "trans sports teams" is so ridiculous, not because of funding or some bureaucratic reasoning. I imagine most would rather pick not being included at all rather than being secluded publicly even more. Also, I wonder how many trans people are even at a school altogether, it's likely not even enough to start a chess team, much less an entire soccer team.

  3. I think the issue is more the way she is going about it. She is working with Republicans to defund schools that play favorites for trans students. That's not a moral way to go about this issue. We're not talking about the UFC here, we're talking about extracurricular clubs & activities for kids. You wouldn't defund schools that refuse to teach evolution in their classrooms or defund a school based on the number of violence related issues per year, so why would it ever be a good idea to defund schools based on a partisan cultural issue like this that will only cause more stigma towards trans students at those schools.

  5. Comparing this to pro sports though is far from the same thing. We're talking about extracurricular clubs & activities at schools. Trans women in pro sports are seeking out that profession, whereas Trans kids are forced to attend school by law & it's part of their every day lives. Pro sports regulations are highly restrictive for a reason whether trans people are involved or not, but that's just not the same thing when it comes to school sports. Not to mention defunding schools is never the right way to go about an issue, especially when it's over a partisan cultural issue like this. Honestly, this is a really random issue to suddenly start championing when school teams aren't even meeting right now due to COVID. Tulsi is weird & this just comes off as desperate to show she is culturally right-wing working with Republicans on a conservative issue they commonly concern troll over (think Dave Rubin).

  8.  @EscapingMidnight24  I was simply saying the idea of trans sports teams is idiotic & that if you were going to force the issue, trans people would likely rather not participate at all than be on the special trans squad just so their entire school won't get defunded by Republicans over bullshit partisan culture wars crap. No matter what you're opinion is on trans people though, defunding schools is never the right course of action, & in this case it's being used to advance a right-wing cultural narrative & delusion. If co-ed teams is really a thing, then sure that could be a partial solution (though I've never seen any in schools before besides groups like the Quiz Team). The over-arching issue, however, is why any politicians or people would be focusing on a non-issue like this when schools don't even have team sports at the moment. The idea of scrutinizing this issue, especially at a time like this, (aside from simply causing more unnecessary stigma towards trans people) only helps to feed into the delusion that this is somehow one of the Left's biggest priority & we all want & push for trans women to use women's bathrooms or whatever. It's like when people such as Ben Shapiro or Dave Rubin constantly talk about lefties deplatforming right-wingers at colleges to make it seem like it's a bigger issue than it actually is & to try to strawman the other side as unserious, when THEY are the ones hyper-focused on the culture war B.S. and realistically the mass majority of leftists are currently pushing for universal healthcare & taxing the 1% & corporations. I honestly don't care how this issue is dealt with (I'm not sure extra-curricular activities for children, is the highest political priority in any setting), but the way Tulsi Gabbard & Republicans are going about this makes it another case where schools are being defunded, except this time it is conditionally based on how they treat the few trans students they have. You don't see the problem with the setup here at all?
