@johnsontb1 Russia is in the same ballpark as the United States with population with far more landmass in addition (more hospitals and lesser area of access, not to mention far lower GDP) and they provide healthcare as a human right as part of their Constitution. In the early 1990s they tried switching to system run by private insurance companies and they instantly realized it made things worse in every way. Nowadays, they have Universal coverage and only spend 6.5% of their GDP on healthcare, meanwhile the USA spends 17.9% of their GDP for a system that is far less effective and 30,000 to 45,000 people die every year. Every other 1st world country already understands Single Payer healthcare is the only way to run a civilized society, they think we're idiots for even having this debate.

They're actively arguing against their own interests in favor of paying more money, limited care restricted by insurance companies between them and their doctors, having worse health outcomes on average, a large portion of the population without any coverage (and thus unable to afford any healthcare), and paying 2 to 3 times more than every other country in terms of % of GDP spent on healthcare. I mean, the US doesn't even allow their government to negotiate pharmaceutical prices with the pharma companies. We are LITERALLY getting ripped off in comparison to what other countries pay for the same exact drugs, and people are seriously defending this shit. I have no words.

Exactly, the insurance companies only exist to make a profit off of your health. If they're not leeching money off of you then they scam you out of your healthcare like refusing to pay for your cancer treatment when the time comes where you actually need your insurance.

I didn't even get what his point was. It sounded like he was making a pitch for Bernie's Medicare for All plan (since that's what he supports), but I have no idea. Not sure why you're taking shots at Medicare for All, when that's literally what Yang supports, learn his policies.

@ronclark9724 The only PACs he accepts money from are teachers, labor, union PACs and from individual doctor groups. These are PACs specifically for workers, not big pharma or any other corrupt corporate industry. Hopefully, Yang Gang will flock to Bernie and push him over the finish line once the voting starts. I don't think Yang has the name recognition to win and he is too far behind still to actually leap to first with only 2 debates left before Iowa. In a few months, if we don't rally behind the progressive polling the best at that point, we will end up with Biden or Warren.

Exactly, it's the same reason why private Medicare Advantage (insurance companies) is a scam on old people today. They run ads on daytime tv, convince senior citizens it's better and cheaper, yet they end up paying more and screwing their patients over when they need operations, surgery, or some type of expensive medication. Private insurance is a business, they operate on profiting off your health, it's going to be less effective by default based on the concept alone. The more they screw over their patients, the bigger their profits, it's why our current system is failing and 30,000 to 42,000 people die every year from lack of healthcare.

I'm all for Bernie 200%, but I agree Warren did do a good job explaining the cost difference. The media always attacks Bernie on that point and smear him with soundbites, but Warren did a better job defending against the same trick. She didn't let them have their soundbite, whereas Bernie is too honest about it for his own good and should be trying to work around that question so the media doesn't just clip out 2 seconds where he says "Taxes will go up but--" (cuts clip). Joe Biden knows exactly how Bernie and Warren pay for Single Payer, he's lying his shiny teeth off when he says "nobody's explained how to pay for it"

@Luper1billion If you want details about Medicare for All you can read the bill. It's not just a "wish", it's an actual bill on the House and Senate floor that is entirely available to the public. If Yang wants to go into wonky details that's fine, but saying other candidates are just talking about "wishes" is inaccurate. Not to mention Yang's views on healthcare are still unclear, maybe he should be spending his allotted time telling us what he supports instead of noting on small things we may be able to do to tweak the current system and see "less spending".

@SoloTravelerOffTheBeatenPath I don't know if this is a legitimate question from you, but premiums, deductibles, co-pays, and your current monthly medical bills are already a private tax from insurance companies. They PRICE GOUGE you under the current system because they can. If you implement Medicare for All, you're federal taxes go up slightly, but your private taxes are gone altogether. It's a NET SAVINGS. The average worker saves thousands through this plan. Professional studies have crunched the numbers and the only ones who end up paying more are people who have half a million $$ in income and over. Billionaires end up paying the most out of anyone because they have the most money and the least amount in medical bills.

You're just factually wrong on that point, and I don't see why that even matters anyways when he's fundamentally against regime change wars and speaks out against the conflicts going on all over the world including withdrawing our troops from 17 year long wars. The things you mentioned are trivial in comparison to core issues and you're just wrong on the Russian sanctions point.
