  1. Noam Chomsky, on the topic of Left vs Right ideological lines in America, hits the nail on the head as usual. Bernie Sanders & Social Democratic norms are just the sane middle-of-the-road option, not even Left-wing when you look at other countries. Most people already knew this, but Chomsky just lays it out so plainly & rationally.

The problem with employees opting out of being involved in the direct decision-making of a co-op seems like the same problems with the Democracy of a nation and how only a portion of the citizens participate in voting. It's just an unavoidable consequence for "the worst form of government except for all the others that have been tried". However, giving people the ability to have that option is a benefit in itself, since if people "opt-out", they usually rely on their colleagues to make the right decisions in their stead, and if at any point the employee is unhappy with the direction the company is headed, they can and will decide to take an active role in the co-op - that's a luxury that workers in normal corporations do not have & usually end up fighting tooth and nail just to have their voices heard at all.
