During WW2, there were a number of "conservative businessmen" who were afraid of FDR and "socialism" that would lead to big losses in their businesses because he guaranteed a job for all workers. They feared that he was going to "destroy private enterprise to subsidize the poor", so this lead them down a dark path where they literally worked with fascists during the period when Hitler was committing mass genocide and ethnic cleansing that would later be termed as The Holocaust, and part of the conspirators' plan to overthrow FDR was to create a "fascist veteran's organization" that they would use for a coup d'état. The man they were trying to install as the leader of this organization was Marine Corps Major General Smedley Butler, who later testified about the plot before the House of Representatives Special Committee on Un-American Activities. As usual, no one was prosecuted and the media tried desperately to cover it up. Not surprising though considering FDR was in a constant war with the Press where he once claimed that 85% of the media was against him.

  3. The rest of the world should get a vote on this. American politics seems too important in terms of global politics as a whole. If that were to happen, Bernie would win by 98% of the vote.

  4. Surprisingly, Seth Meyers gave Bernie a far more fair and friendly interview than either Steven Colbert or Trevor Noah. Aside from the obvious framing of the title, which I doubt was Seth's fault.
