@KeijiMaeda86 I love every second of Castlevania so I cannot relate to your general dislike for basically the entire show

@GuyWhoLikesTheSnarkies1435 Also they need to make the voices match the animation, it's already hard enough to do without adding their own spin on the dialogue. I think they pull off dubs pretty well these days for how many limitations they have on their voice acting

@KeijiMaeda86 The second and third seasons along with half of the 4th is basically the entire show. The 1st season is like 4 episodes.

The French Revolution setting is also an amazing choice for this. It really ups the stakes following the Romanian Middle Ages

@GuyWhoLikesTheSnarkies1435 Idk about that. I like how they emulate the tone of the original anime. It's also just the safe option cause I could see that going bad A LOT if they tried to adapt their own version. They already Americanize/Westernize the dialogue quite a bit

I think Netflix is telling me it's time to rewatch the Castlevania series

Imo it's literally the best Netflix original. The only shows that hold a candle to this are the Wet Hot American Summer shows

I love how this show looks more serious and packed full of emotion. You couldn't really have that in the original cause it was based off a video game and would've taken itself too seriously but now we all know Castlevania works as a show and the writers are doing a tonal shift I think works really well.

@Z-Man7 Of course it is, you missed my point. I'm saying now because the 1st series worked so well, they can take it more seriously with more emotion - it's hard to pull that off when everyone just thinks of the goofy video game when they see it. That last scene between Belmont and Death really sold the viewer on just how emotional the series can be & I'm glad they're leaning into this kind of tone.

@Z-Man7 Huh? Saying it has to either be horror or emotional is a false dichotomy. It can obviously be emotional on top of the horror aspect

Netflix always makes such garbage shows, but then every few years I see a new Castlevania trailer and all is forgiven

@ezelalia5739 No it's produced by Netflix and is objectively a Netflix original. Netflix is the initial streaming source for the show.

@KamenKami Never watched it. Doesn't Baki kinda suck though? It's got such awful reviews

Castlevania might literally be the best thing Netflix has ever made. It's better than Stranger Things, Squid Games, House of Cards, Black Mirror, and even Narcos. Imo it's also way better than Arcane even though Arcane spent over 20x more per episode than Castlevania.
