@MK-fx2kl These people are clearly too reactionary and short-sighted to look at the underlying reasons why crime happens. "Just punish the criminals harder" is such an ignorant understanding of the issue.

Harsher laws is nothing more than a bandaid on what is a bigger societal/economic problem. San Francisco especially is getting harder and harder to live in for normal working people and there's a huge wealth gap between the Silicon Valley managerial class and everyone else.

Who knew that making a city like San Francisco completely unaffordable for normal working people would lead to more financial desperation and crime. High crime really is such a mystery

@@leanja6926 Europe and the rest of the Western world would strongly disagree with you, as they have less crime, less financial inequality (the real factor for crime), and notably far far less prison population. Do the math.

@IanBLacy This happens in every state where people are in financial desperation, which happens to be every state in the US. SF is specific target because it's so wealthy & hard to live in for normal people.

The amount of reactionary comments here blaming high crime on 'cultural decay', lenient punishments, lack of parents, and even rap music really makes me lose faith in humanity.

@porkyminch1640 US already has the highest prison populations in the world by a gigantic margin, it's almost as if what you're saying is woefully ineffective to solving a larger much more nuanced problem with society.
