  1. The law doesn't even apply to the government right now. You want to 'regulate these companies as public utilities' but you're saying that under the assertion that apparently our government operates correctly as of now. It doesn't. The federal government is the institution that imprisoned Chelsea Manning so what makes you think giving the government control would lead to Wikileaks having the freedom it has now? Seems like these tech companies are the reason why Wikileaks is still active on their platforms and the government is the entity that wants to stop that. Your solution is to give the government full control? That's not a good solution.

The ones that slightly existed before like the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau have been completely stripped and disassembled by the Trump administration. The FCC is supposed to regulate telecom companies but instead they're just giving them more power and allowing propaganda networks like Sinclair to take over the majority of broadcasting media. The government is broken right now, that's my point. Giving the Trump administration owned government the power to dictate what's on social media is just as stupid as giving them a far larger budget for the military.
