I think you're right that Bernie will own the Democratic primary just as Trump did in 2016, what will be interesting is what comes after, because the Republicans basically bent to Trump's will when he became president due to the hold he had on his base, but ALSO because Trump was just faking the whole populism thing and didn't actually mean it so it was easy for Republicans to fall in line. The difference with Bernie is that he actually DOES mean it and I think that will be the difference and why the Democrats will never accept him when he's president even if he does curb stomp them into submission with owning popularity with the base. Even if the Democrats appear to support him as the Republicans support Trump, you will still see them trying to backstab him behind the curtains around every corner because they don't want the change Bernie brings no matter what they say.
