Not to mention Bernie was already talking about people of color in his current answer. He was talking about how Republicans are constantly trying to take away voting rights for people of color and Bernie's main argument was how we need to "expand democracy" not take away rights especially for minorities in prison.

@blessingjohnchelliah4317 Yeah it totally looks like "mostly whites" at his rallies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUK1vpdWe84&t=5339

Not to mention, Bernie's answer had nothing to do with the Boston Marathon Bomber, that was a topic that was forced upon him and Bernie answered entirely by addressing how we need to "expand our Democracy" not take away people's rights, the overwhelming majority of whom are non-violent offenders.

@TCt83067695 Yeah, I thought Bernie's op-ed WAS a good deflection from the media forcing him to talk about the Boston Marathon Bomber. Kyle acts like Bernie was totally focusing on defending the Bomber, yet if you actually watched him, his complete argument was that we need to "expand our democracy" not take away people's rights, and he has talked about non-violent offenders in his answers as well. It's so easy for Cory Booker to make his point when he doesn't have an interviewer who isn't constantly forcing him to talk about the Boston Marathon Bomber. Does Kyle seriously think Bernie would be talking about those criminals if the media wasn't cramming it down his throat?

The media will attack Bernie no matter what his answer is. For this interview, corporate media could've easily made the headline: "Cory Booker dodges when asked why he supports voting rights for Dylan Roof!"

@fluteplayer7mce Bernie's answer wasn't bad at all. He was completely focusing on how we need to "expand our democracy" not take away people's rights. The media hijacked his answer and turned it into a headline with things Bernie never even said. They could easily do the same thing for Cory Booker if they felt compelled to. "Cory Booker dodges when asked why he supports voting rights for Dylan Roof!" See, it's really fucking easy when the media forces it on you. Bernie's answer is not the problem, it is corporate media.

Kyle is being thick here. Bernie is not the problem, it is corporate media. If media felt compelled to attack Booker they could've easily made a headline like "Cory Booker dodges when asked why he supports voting rights for Dylan Roof!". It's not fucking hard to do, Bernie's ability to give a good answer is not the issue.

@thepolishlatinofromphilly9709 I suppose the genocide in Yemen being immoral to its core is just an opinion then. I don't accept that. There are undeniable truths in this world and genocide being immoral is a pretty big one.

Bernie wasn't deliberately talking about "Dylan Roof" or the Boston Marathon Bomber, those were arguments forced on him by the media. Bernie was entirely focusing on how we need to "expand our Democracy" not continue to take away people's rights. What is Kyle talking about? Have you actually watched Bernie on this issue?
2
Kyle wants Bernie to dodge and deflect questions more like Cory Booker, this is not good advice and we already know just how popular Cory Booker is for his tactics. Bernie's ACTUAL answer had nothing to do with corporate media smears and entirely focused on "expanding Democracy" and making it about how Republicans are trying to take away voting rights for people of color. What the hell is Kyle talking about?
2
Strange how corporate media didn't force the debate about the Boston Marathon Bomber on Cory Booker like they did on Bernie. It's much easier to debate on the merits and what's right when corporate media isn't constantly trying to smear you over and over again to distract from the real issues.
2
@TCt83067695 I'm sure we agree on a whole lot, I never thought otherwise. And yeah from the way Kyle is discussing this whole topic it doesn't even sound like he listened to Bernie's entire answer in that town hall.

@dadnonlyd3 "Bernie was retarded for bringing that up in the first place." He didn't bring it up at all. They asked him a smear question and then when his answer didn't even mention the Bomber once, they made it into headlines anyways. That is how corporate media works genius.

@dadnonlyd3 Also GO WATCH BERNIE'S ANSWER people. His answer 100% focused on how we need to "expand Democracy" not take away people's rights and he already talked about how Republicans are trying to take away voting rights for people color and one of the ways is by taking away rights for prisoners. Bernie already talked about the shit Booker mentioned. Everyone here needs to go actually watch his answer, not just assume his answer based on corporate media headlines.
