@Marky-Mark1337 Nearly all of the states with the highest GDPs are blue states. California alone has a higher GDP than the country of France. The only state with a high GDP that doesn't have majority Democratic representation is Texas and even that is becoming a blue state over time, to the point where it will likely be a battleground state in the next election.

@Marky-Mark1337 Out of the top 11 poorest states in the US, 10 out of 11 are solid Red states, while the 1 is a swing state, go further up the list, and you won't find a solid Blue state until you get to number 20 with Maine. Kentucky is the perfect example of a state that had full Republican control under Governor Brownback, and they ended up carrying out the conclusive goals of the Republican party with massive deregulation, tax cuts, and drastically slashing social programs. It ended up destroying the financial state of Kentucky and it has gone deep into bankruptcy. It's now one of the poorest states in the country next to Alabama.

@Mnecrafter99 That doesn't erase anything I just said. California still has a GDP equal to India and higher than France. It's also nearly double the GDP of New York or Texas which have the next highest GDPs. This is the way that Trump, Republicans and right-wingers are known for determining how the economy is doing so ignoring these facts would be hypocritical to their own ideology, which has always been based around Wall Street greed and the common measurements of Capitalism (ie how the market is doing). Talking about how the people are doing is a leftist position, but even the argument you gave about how housing is cheaper there does not account for any reason why those states would be better financially. Real estate value is a universal measurement on the well-being and general wealth of a region. This is why some of the cheapest places to live ARE usually disadvantaged communities such as Flint, Michigan and locations in the South.
